  • Overview

    Under the guidance and direction of the Director, Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), the Technician, Environmental Health & Safety provides direction, technical guidance and support for the environmental, health and safety programs at the Halo Pharmaceutical facility in Whippany, NJ.  The Technician provides assistance to the Director, EHS with administration of environmental, health and safety compliance programs, including ongoing site support, development of EH&S written programs, training and onsite inspections.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide technical guidance to the safety program and support management and staff in the development and implementation of environmental, health and safety programs,
    • Assist in the administration of OSHA compliance programs including policy development, testing/ medical surveillance and training
    • Assist in the administration of the Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste programs
    • Conduct safety audits, equipment reviews and safety complaint reviews as required
    • Manage SDS Database – revise/ update accordingly
    • Member of the Health and Safety Committee
    • May handle hazardous materials
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrate computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft office software, Trackwise,
    • Strong organizational skills desired,
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including effective listening
    • Must be able to move about the inside and outside of the facility
    • Must be able to remain sedentary at times when operating a computer
    • Must have ability to position self to examine contents of low  or high cabinets
    • Required to wear personal protective equipment at times

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree is required in Safety Engineering, Physical Science or related discipline.

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Must have 3 + years of experience working in Health, Safety and Environmental in a Manufacturing setting, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
