The Packaging Mechanic sets up, troubleshoots, provides preventive maintenance, and repair to packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Takes responsibility, overcomes obstacles, and escalates issues at the appropriate time, ability to change over packaging line equipment from one size product to another with accurate documentation of the activities in accordance with procedures.
Able to perform corrective and preventative mechanical and or electrical maintenance aseptically
Knowledgeable in equipment trouble shooting. Able to assess impact on equipment /anomalies. Ability to make effective decisions and take action based on deductive reasoning and potential product impact.
Knowledgeable in mechanical and or some electrical / with packaging equipment.
Understanding of basic Mechanical and Electrical concepts.
Able to multi task with a can do attitude. Effective verbal skills. TEAM PLAYER.
Able to respond to faults and error messages, to assess potential product impact and act to identify and address root cause.
Able to identify improvement opportunities in given processes / procedures.
Knowledge of CGMP, SOP, Lock Out Tag Out, and OSHA regulations required.
Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
Maintain area orderly and clean during all operations.
Capable of working extended overtime hours.
Ability to train other Packaging Mechanics.
Set-up, operation, cleaning and sophisticated trouble shooting of Packaging equipment.
Troubleshoot major breakdowns or mechanical failures.
Assist in the design / redesign of process equipment as production requirements warrant.
Assist in quality investigations and CAPAs.
Other duties as assigned.
3+ years working in pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
Solid understanding of cGMP practices and concepts
Ability to read, comprehend and follow SOPs written in English
General troubleshooting and mechanical skills necessary to diagnose, disassemble, repair and reassemble packaging equipment.
Knowledge of packaging equipment set-up, adjustments to equipment and packaging documentation is preferred.
Ability to lift 35 lbs. for short periods of time.
Must be able to work overtime as needed.
Knowledgeable in mechanical / electrical associated with Packaging Equipment.
Knowledge in various Packaging Equipment e.g. Bottle Filler, Bottle Unscrambler, Cartoners, Induction Sealer, Labeler, Case Tapers, Tube filler, Bundlers etc.
Knowledge of SAP a plus
Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues on Packaging equipment is a plus.
High school diploma /Trade School Required, Equipment / Trouble Shooting Training desired.
2-5 years of experience in a Pharmaceutical environment
Packaging or related experience is required.
